Our canvas is 100% acid free cotton duck, and contains no paper filler. We also offer a washed/heat pressed canvas. This treatment decontaminates the fabric from any mold, bacteria, spores and dirt, all of which may contribute to a poor bond between the canvas and gesso. This treatment also serves to shrink the canvas, thus helping to stabilize it. This canvas ends up with a finer and smoother texture than its unwashed equivalent.

The raw canvas is then stretched by hand, true to the traditional method, which to this day remains far superior to the stretching machines used on mass-produced pre-gessoed stretchers.
